Barcelona Baby

Unfortunately, the weather was under 45 degrees in Barcelona and it was freezing rain the entire morning and afternoon. However, that did not take away from the beauty of the language and culture of Barcelona. From the Sagrada Familia to the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona, the city has an atmosphere like no other. On our first night, the Contiki Crew walked through the Gothic Quarter and had our first taste of Sangria. It is not that bad of a drink, but it could kill you with a hangover the next day!

This will be the entrance to La Sagrada Familia when it is completed in 2026. The words are the Our Father in 40 different languages
The first landmark Chloe and I decided to check out was Sagrada Familia. Sagrada Familia is a church that was being built by Antony Gaudi who dedicated his entire life to the Catholic Church itself. He died in 1936, and the church is still being built to this very day! They say it is estimated to be finished around 2026, and the architecture on the outside of the church alone will take your breath. From the pillars inside the church that represent Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John to the towers that represent the apostles, this landmark was a great sight to see.

After Sagrada Familia, Chloe and I decided to get lost in the city. We walked down near the port of the city, and we also found the statue of Christopher Columbus pointing towards the West Indies. Everything is a lot cheaper in Barcelona than it was in London and Paris. Unfortunately, I was not able to check out Camp Nou, FC Barcelona’s stadium. There’s always next time!

There are lions at the bottom of the tower you can climb on top of, but it was raining the entire day
During the evening the Contiki crew decided to go to a flamenko show. Flamenko is the traditional dance of Spain, or as most people know it, the dancing woman emoji. The rhythm and emotion of the dancers kept me intrigued the entire time, and I thought the show was fantastic. After some tapas and Sangria, we headed to the bar and the club in Barcelona. Overall, I would love to come back and see more of this beautiful city because there is so much to do and it is so cheap. We are now headed back to France to see the French Riviera and go check out the Grand Prix. Adios!

I tried uploading the video to the blog, but I could not! Check out my facebook for the videos, especially the guy. He was only 17!
